Many World Trade Center Victims Have Claims Under The Zadroga Act Victim Compensation Fund
The events of September 11, 2001, are forever etched in our collective memory. The sight of the World Trade Center, the very heart of NYC, with plumes of smoke coming from gaping holes, and then crumbling before our eyes, changed the course of American history and world politics.
“An untold number of lives were shattered on that day. Thousands perished in the Twin Towers, on the planes, and to their heartbroken families, their losses were direct and felt immediately.”
– Alan Fuchsberg, Managing Partner
As the years since 9/11 have come and gone, additional insidious consequences have come to light. Survivors of the disaster, people who worked on the site, and individuals who worked and lived near the WTC, are being diagnosed with horrific medical conditions including various types of cancer and mesothelioma.
Do You Have A Claim?
If you are suffering from a health condition such as respiratory illness, lung disease, and/or related cancers, and you lived or worked near the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan, (even as far north as Canal Street), you may have a claim.
This includes first responders and police officers who acted to aid at ground zero during and after the terrorist attacks, and others who lived and worked in the area. Congress has made it clear that the government will pay for their health care costs. Anyone who has grown ill as a result of working in or living near the Twin Towers should seek out compensation.
The Jacob Fuchsberg Law Firm LLP is considered one of the premier firms in New York City and has represented hundreds of people who got sick as a result of the World Trade Center attacks.
They have successfully obtained compensation from the WTC Health Program, called the Zadroga Act Victim Compensation Fund, on behalf of their clients, in an amount close to $200 million.
As New York lawyers, the Jacob Fuchsberg attorneys take these matters very much to heart. They have a distinguished group of partners, associates, and paralegals who will work tirelessly on your claim.
Every claim that comes into their hands receives the individual supervision of a partner.

What Illnesses Were Caused By 9/11?
People who worked or lived near the World Trade Center, or downtown Manhattan, have been diagnosed with many different illnesses as a result of breathing in the toxic dust and compromised air near the WTC crash site.
The following are just some of the many types of diseases that we are seeing in our recent cases involving the WTC.
Lung Conditions Caused By 9/11
Many individuals who lived or worked near the World Trade Center have developed asthma, COPD, mesothelioma, and other breathing problems. Pulmonary function has also been compromised in a number of people.
Incidents of sarcoidosis, which is a form of inflammation of the lungs, is also very common. In addition, thousands of individuals have developed interstitial lung disease, asbestosis, chronic sinusitis, chronic rhinitis, GERD, and sleep apnea.
Cancer Related To 9/11
Lymphoma, Leukemia, and Myeloma are just some of the cancers that our clients have developed as a result of living or working near the WTC. Many people have developed lung cancer and esophageal cancers; there have been many instances of colon, liver, and stomach cancers.
Other rare cancers have also been identified as related to the debris of 9/11. This is just a partial list, and a WTC attorney in our office can assist you in determining if cancer you have developed merits a claim under the Victim’s Compensation Act.

9/11 Victims Compensation Fund Eligibility
Anyone who was near the World Trade Center on or after 9/11 and has developed cancer or another disease that is related to the toxic air or debris is entitled to ask for help from the Fund.
These individuals include first and second responders who worked at the World Trade Center as rescue workers, helping victims and cleaning up the debris. Policemen, firefighters (FDNY and other companies), Port Authority personnel, government workers, construction workers, trash removal workers, doctors, nurses, and other volunteers are thought of as First and Second Responders.
You may also be entitled to compensation under the Zadroga Act If you lived or worked within the downtown area during 9/11 and its aftermath. Many office workers have suffered significant personal and physical injuries as a result of their employment near the Twin Towers site.
Three Important Steps To Obtain Compensation Under The Victims’ Compensation Act
There are three steps that 9/11 victims need to take in order to file a successful VCF claim. Our WTC lawyers can help you with this process, so you do not need to worry if you cannot do this on your own.
1. You will have to prove that you were in the exposure zone, near downtown at the time of the events of 9/11 or its aftermath. Do you have any paperwork that might show that you worked or lived there on or after 9/11? Business records, leases, contracts, photographs, and other types of documents are all acceptable forms of proof.
2. You will have to show that you have a condition related to 9/11. Respiratory illness, cancer, mesothelioma, and a host of other conditions are prevalent in those who have become ill since being exposed to the toxic air around the WTC site. You will need to obtain medical records showing that you have a condition.
3. Once these steps are taken, and you have spoken to an attorney in our office, we can file a claim on your behalf so that you get the compensation that you deserve. Please call us at 212-869-3500 to talk to an experienced and compassionate WTC lawyer.
