The Fuchsberg Legacy

The Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Firm has an eighty-year tradition of protecting individuals when they need it the most. When the unforseen strikes — an accident, negligence, medical malpractice, discrimination, injuries from products — we step in to provide compassionate and experienced representation. This is the legacy of our Firm.

Trailblazers in Accident Law

Our history dates back to the 1920’s, when one of our founding fathers, Henry E. Cohen, became one of the first lawyers in the country to represent individuals injured in accidents.

His son-in-law, Jacob D. Fuchsberg, continued in this practice, and joined him in forming Cohen & Fuchsberg. Jack Fuchsberg expanded the Firm to represent even more of the legal issues that affect individuals, families and communities.

Fuchsberg Tradition of Excellence Heralded by New York Courts

Taking the lead from Henry Cohen, Jack Fuchsberg became one of the most influential and outstanding trial lawyers in America. While in private practice, he was the first lawyer to win a verdict of over $1 million.

His reputation for excellence continued when he was a Judge on the Court of Appeals, New York’s highest court. He was praised particularly for championing individual rights. He served in this capacity for nine years, and in 1983, founded our current Firm.

The Fuchsberg Commitment to Educating and Elevating the Legal Profession

Jack Fuchsberg, Henry Cohen and the members of the present day Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Firm share a lifelong commitment to improving the quality of the legal profession, and ensuring that individual rights are protected by vigilant lawyers. Jack Fuchsberg was a founder and first president of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He was also a founder of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, which has trained more trial lawyers than any other organization.

The Jacob D. Fuchsberg Hall at New York University Law School was the first facility dedicated to training lawyers in counseling skills, and the Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center at Touro College in Long Island is a renowned law school emphasizing trial practice. We have maintained and upheld these traditions through our continued commitment to the community.

The Fuchsberg Legacy of Protecting Individual Rights Lives On.
