Civil Rights Violations

Championing Your Civil Rights

Your civil rights are guaranteed through a set of laws established to promote freedom and equality. Civil rights protect our citizens from discrimination based on race, class, gender, religion, age, nationality, political party, and disability.

There are many kinds of civil rights violations.

One example of a case the Firm handled includes the City’s unnecessary emergency condemnation and demolition of an apartment building without a proper investigation or hearing. The building could have been repaired. As a result, more than a dozen families lost their rent stabilized apartments, belongings and even pets. In this federal action we claimed it was a taking of property without due process of law in violation of the 5th and 14th Amendments. We retained engineers and proved we were right, resulting in a successful outcome.

We have handled several cases of prisoners who were not given proper medical attention and consequently died or suffered a life altering permanent injury. The Eighth Amendment of The U.S. Constitution protects one against cruel and unusual punishment. Deprivation of proper medical care is a violation of this right. We have obtained a record setting verdicts and settlements in such cases.
